Rock Rapids, Iowa- Central Lyon/ George Little Rock head coach Curtis Eben is reflective as his team gets set for the 2A State Championship on Friday. After a long bus ride home he was able to put his thoughts together following a convincing victory over Camanche on Saturday afternoon by a score of 41-0 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. He spoke with our Joel Vis on what it means to him to be championship bound. Coach Eben says “It hasn’t sat in with me to be in the championship, but it’s hitting me harder that I only have six days to be around these guys before it’s done.” For Coach Eben, he’s been there as an assistant coach and player, but this is the first trip to the finals for him as a coach, and that he says has not really sat in yet.
In a crazy football season that has had challenges off the field, CLGLR has truly been a team of destiny that continues to overcome adversity on their path to a championship appearance. CLGLR knows what they face in the Waukon Indians, and they realize the key to victory is to continue doing what they do and have done all year long. Unlike the Lions who are undefeated at 11-0, the Waukon Indians do have one loss on the season as their record sits at 9-1 after defeating PCM, Monroe 38-21 on Saturday evening. The showdown is set for Friday at 2:00PM with the winner taking home the 2A State Title. K101 will have the coverage starting at 1:30PM with the Voice of the Lions, Joel Vis on the call.
