D-Day Invasion Jeep Willy returning to Luverne, MN
OPERATION HOMECOMING MILITARY PARADE and the premiere of the OPERATION HOMECOMING DOCUMENTARY will be held on Luverne, MN on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
This event celebrates the donation of a 1942 Jeep Willy that landed during the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944 being gifted to Rock County by former National Geographic photographer Jim Brandenburg, a Luverne native.
The military vehicle parade, with the 1942 Jeep Willy as honored guest, will begin promptly at 11:30 am on Main Street; starting at Freeman Avenue to Blue Mound Avenue.
The participating entries will then drive to the Rock County Courthouse Square for a Command Readiness Inspection (shine & show) from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. The public is encouraged to attend. Meet & greet the owners of the military vehicles on display and enjoy FREE ROOT BEER FLOATS.
At 3 pm, internationally acclaimed nature photographer Jim Brandenburg invites everyone to the Historic Palace Theatre on Main Street in downtown Luverne. Jim will be premiering and hosting a 30 minute documentary on the story of this historic jeep followed by a short question & answer period.
