Highlights of Signing Day

As national signing day comes to a close, colleges all across the U.S. have built up their rosters to get the edge on their rivals and make next year’s seasons something to look forward to.

Central Lyon Athlete Zach Lutmer officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play football for the University of Iowa. The Hawkeye commit is slated to play Defensive back after leading Central Lyon/George-Little Rock to the Class 2A State Championship this fall. Two of Lutmer’s teammates also signed their Letters of Intent on Wednesday. Jac VanWhye signed on to play offensive line for Division 1 University of South Dakota, and Evan Kruger also signed to continue his football career at Morningside College in Sioux City.

Other notable signings include:

  • Former Central Lyon/George-Little Rock athlete Rex VanWhye played this season at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge at Linebacker and singed his National Letter of Intent with the defending Big 12 Champion Kansas State Wildcats.
  • West Lyon had its share of signers as well on Wednesday with Camden Kruse signing to play football for the defending NAIA Champions Northwestern College in Orange City.
  • The Red Raiders also received Wildcat Commits from Ryer Chrichton for Baseball, Emily Ter Wee in Basketball, and Randi Childress for Softball.
  • Luverne’s Camden Janiszeski has signed on with University of Sioux Falls for Cross Country.
