Wolves guard playing for Nigeria
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Josh Okogie is playing for his native Nigeria in the Summer Olympics in Japan. Okogie was born in Nigeria and moved to the United States when he was three years old. He has much of his family still in Nigeria and says it is a great honor to represent his family and his country in the summer games. Nigeria upset Team U-S-A in an exhibition game last week and Okogie says that gave them a confidence boost. He also admits the win doesn’t mean anything once the real games get going in Tokyo. Okogie says Team Nigeria will have a defensive mentality and will move the ball on offense to create an open shot. Okogie also says playing this summer in the Olympics will help him improve his game and be a better N-B-A player for Minnesota. The opening ceremonies for the Olympics is scheduled for Friday.
